Why does Powdered Colostrum have its limitations?
Recent discoveries with bovine colostrum, the pre-milk substance mothers feed their newborns in the first hours after birth to passively transfer essential immune factors, have shown incredible benefit to humans. There is a common belief that the best method to passively transfer the immune factors from the bovine source of colostrum to humans is via powder or capsule form. Science has proven this not to be true. Stomach acids render powdered Proline-Rich Polypeptides useless. Scientifically and biologically this protocol makes no sense at all.

Colostrum as we know it is nature's most perfect food. It is a combination of thousands of compounds designed by nature to act as transfer factors to passively transmit immunity from mother to baby helping to protect and develop the human body. The Proline-Rich Polypeptides or PRPs in bovine colostrum exist naturally in a liquid form. Using a unique and patented process, these PRP's are carefully extracted from natural raw colostrum liquid and packaged as an oral spray, thus preserving the maximum benefits of PRPs.

Andrew Keech who made this incredible discovery is a native New Zealander raised on a dairy farm and clearly understood at an early age the powerful implications of colostrum. He has achieved many academic accomplishments that include a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in mathematics and chemistry, a bachelors degree in chemical and process engineering, and a Ph.D in chemical engineering from Oxford University in England. He holds a diploma in process control systems engineering systems and is also a certified plant engineer and a member of the institute of professional engineers of New Zealand and the institute of chemical engineers in London, England.

Andrew, tell us a about colostrum and why this substance is so important to our health?

Colostrum is the first milk that a mother produces immediately after giving birth. Colostrum is nature's perfect first food. It is the pre-milk substance produced from the mother's breast from all mammals during the first 24 hours after lactation. Colostrum supplies immune and growth factors and is a perfect combination of vitamins and minerals to ensure the health and vitality and growth of a newborn. It is estimated that colostrum triggers at least 50 processes in the newborn including transferring all the immune factors and the entire memory from the mother's own immune system.

Is colostrum a treatment or cure for disease?

Colostrum does not treat or cure any disease. However, colostrum provides the human body with the appropriate tools necessary to retrain many biochemical processes in the body to a state of homeostasis.

Can we actually live longer if we take colostrum?

There are many factors and lifestyle choices that influence the longevity of our lives. Firstly, many researchers believe an important key to a long life is by minimizing the times our cells replicate throughout our lives. The ends of all DNA have regions called telomeres. These regions wear each time the DNA strand divides and forms new DNA. Its like tying your shoelaces hundreds and hundreds of times. At some stage your laces are going to fray so much that it breaks. Likewise, when our telomeres shorten to a point, the cell DNA dies and thus the cell dies.

How does taking colostrum help our health?

In addition to these factors to living a long, healthy, fulfilled life, it is important to help the body remember how to operate at its optimum. Colostrum contains Proline-Rich Polypeptides. These are the small peptide units that actually modulate or balance many of the biological processes in our bodies. When we are born and our mothers give us colostrum, these informational peptides are transferred passively to us. They teach our body how to operate correctly in the hostile world we have just been exposed to when we are born. If we do not get this colostrum by breast feeding, we do not thrive and may experience numerous health problems. Its like passively getting a subconscious chemical instruction manual to operate our bodies. Now, as we get older, our bodies forget how to operate correctly. By taking colostrum, we get that subconscious chemical instruction back so our bodies operate efficiently so itself can treat and cure disease the way nature intended. Nature did not intend for us to take synthesized pharmaceutical medications to treat and cure every ailment we might have.

Why do we need colostrum as adults?

Experience has shown that nature knows best in many cases of healing. As we age, we notice that it takes us a little longer to fight off a cold or flu. We become more vulnerable to disease. Our energy and enthusiasm lessen. Our skin loses its elasticity. We gain unwanted weight and lose muscle tone. This is because after maturity we gradually lose the natural immune and growth factors in our body. Aging, illness, and death occur with the loss of immune and growth factors in our bodies.

Medical science has shown in hundreds of published reports worldwide that these can possibly be replaced in the human body with bovine colostrum. In fact, the past 30 years has witnessed the publication of over 8,000 reference papers strongly supportive of both colostrum and its numerous components. Bovine colostrum offers tremendous possibilities for providing unparalleled support for the immune system. That may be the bodys decided factor in the war against illness. Colostrum not only has antioxidant properties as do natural antioxidant compounds such as blueberries, but colostrum also contains natural anti-inflammatory properties, and is a source of many vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids.

Bovine colostrum restores an optimally functioning immune system and helps the body ward off foreign invaders. It also accelerates healing of all body tissue, increases bone and lean muscle mass, and replenishes an aging system. Supplementation of colostrum enhances the efficiency of amino acids and carbohydrate fuel uptake by the intestine. More nutrients are made available for muscle cells and other vital tissues and organs. One of the reasons for the energy boost seen in many healthy individuals who use colostrum as a food supplement is its ability to improve nutritional availability.

What is the actual definition of Proline-Rich Polypeptides or PRPs?

The term applies to a class of small proteins that circulate in the blood of mammals and accumulate or concentrate in their colostrum, or in their milk, and also in their blood serum. They act as precursors that modulate cytokine production and maintain correct concentrations of these cytokines. Proline-Rich Polypeptides appear to convey information necessary for appropriate cellular function.

How does PRP liquid colostrum compare with whole colostrum supplements?

Comparing PRP liquid colostrum to a whole colostrum supplement would be like comparing a precious metal ore from which it is derived.

Can these Proline-Rich Polypeptides be as effective for adults as they would be for newborns?

Proline-Rich Polypeptides need to be processed to be effective for adults. The polypeptides from colostrum are not more absorbable or more properly readable by adults unless separated and broken up into smaller sizes.

Can we get enough of the colostrum to provide enough of the PRPs?

Bovine colostrum that is from cows provides PRPs that are fully effective in humans. Thats a good thing otherwise their use would be prohibitively expensive.

Does the bovine source of PRPs really work as well as with human?

The answer is a very definite yes. Whereas bovine colostrum and lactoferrin are close but not precise matches of their human counterparts, PRPs from cows may be even closer. The clinical experience with bovine products is sufficiently compelling to imply the bovine immune system is every bit as smart as the human one.

Is there a relationship between dose and benefit?

In the studies done to date, it has been noted that the administration of PRP liquid colostrum above the minimum levels for response does not enhance or intensify the benefit.

So what do these PRPs do for adults?

Early studies suggest that PRPs are extremely effective as anti-inflammatory agents as well as immune enhancers.

What specific types of conditions are likely to respond to the PRP liquid colostrum?

A variety of conditions have been helped, including infectious diseases, regressive degenerative disorders, allergic disorders, arthritis, reducing viral loads, and even a dozen or so rare diseases.

How is PRP liquid colostrum administered?

In most cases oral administration is preferred. Amounts of three sprays in the mouth are usually effective. Topical application is also effective for burns and other skin conditions.

How much is needed to be effective?

Again, small dosages are usually effective. The usual mode of administration is three sprays in the mouth twice daily.

Is PRP liquid colostrum safe?

The safety of PRP liquid colostrum has been demonstrated in physician monitored safety studies and in normal use. As with any food supplements, should evidence of intolerance develop, it is recommended that the use of PRP liquid colostrum be discontinued until an adequate assessment of the circumstances have been made. But in all my research, talking at length to patients and researches, no one reported any negative side effects while taking this PRP liquid colostrum product. It is also important to drink plenty of fresh clean water to help the body detox while your body repairs itself.

Should PRP liquid colostrum be taken as a preventative?

Sure. Maintaining an efficient immune system is important to help prevent infections.

Can you tell us of any interactions with medications?

We're not aware of any drug interactions. Always consult your health care professional for advice regarding prescription medications.

What about pregnant and nursing mothers?

Ask your doctor or medical professional prior to taking any prescription drugs, over the counter medications, herbal and nutritional supplements.

Can you give PRP liquid colostrum to your children?

We suggest that you consult with your pediatrician for proper serving size information. Half to one gram is usually sufficient per serving.

Can you give PRP liquid colostrum to your dog or cat?

Bovine colostrum is not species specific and works wonderfully with cats and dogs, and other mammals. Older animals will respond especially well when given colostrum.

What about lactose intolerance?

Since colostrum contains little lactose, generally people who are lactose intolerant should experience no problems when taking colostrum. Also, some lactose intolerant people have reported that they have been able to eat some dairy products after taking colostrum for approximately 6-8 weeks.

What makes your PRP colostrum spray unique?

A liquid delivery system increases the mass transfer co-efficient of the PRP proteins in a filtered water matrix far faster than a powdered colostrum product. Compare this to transfer factor. Thus the PRPs are able to be absorbed much faster in the body. Also delivering the PRPs in a liquid form is what nature intended for us. Again, the main function of PRPs are to modulate or balance many of our biological processes in our bodies.
